Plainview

We are excited to work alongside the city of Plainview on implementation of the Innovation Challenge. After successfully completing ECAP in 2019 and a Downtown Revitalization Planning Project in 2020, Plainview is leading the way in rural planning, implementation, and economic development. We look forward to learning from and with the community as we provide an updated Comprehensive Plan that will support their continuing progress. The Comprehensive Plan is scheduled for completion and delivery to the city of Plainview by the end of 2021. Immediately after the Plan’s adoption by the City Council, we will continue to work with the city by creating a Strategic Plan that coordinates community driven projects with the city’s land development and infrastructure initiatives.

The City of Plainview was incorporated on April 5, 1886, just six years after the Fremont, Elkhorn & Missouri Valley Railroad was completed between Norfolk and Plainview. It's a small town of about 1,900 residents that's bursting with character and a business community that takes action to serve their residents and visitors. Plainview is leading the way for other rural communities in terms of Leadership in Action and planning for a sustainable and prosperous future.
